Review paper on segmentation of touching, broken & overlapping characters in Devnagari script Kaur Japneet*, Kaur Suppandeep** *Student, BFCET, Bathinda **Assistant Professor, CSE, BFCET, Bathinda Online published on 2 July, 2015. Abstract With the growing research on image segmentation, it has become important to categorise the research outcomes and provide readers with an overview of the existing segmentation techniques in each category. Image segmentation in general is defined as a process of partitioning an image into homogenous groups such that each region is homogenous but the union of no two adjacent regions is homogenous. Segmentation is a crucial part of Optical Character Recognition (OCR). OCR is methodology of changing the scanned images of Machine printed or Manually written contents, images. Segmentation of a word into characters is one of the important challenges in optical character recognition. This is even more challenging when we segment characters in an offline handwritten document. This paper emphasizes the interest to the segmentation of touching, broken and overlapping character written in handwritten document written in Devnagri. Top Keywords Handwritten Character Recognition, Touching Characters, Broken Characters, overlapping Characters. Top | |
