Abstract The purpose of the study is to contextualize marriage and childbirth in Malabar. Marriage is the beginning of the family and it is a lifelong commitment. Marriage is more than a physical union, it is a spiritual and emotional union. At the same time, childbirth becomes one of the early cores of the couples, especially for females. Because female ego ideal, contributing to her self-esteem and representing her as being a woman only after she had a baby. Motherhood is a significant and important aspect of life for many women around the globe. For women in communities where motherhood is highly desired, motherhood is considered crucial to every woman. For the current study, a sample of 163 women (mothers and expecting mothers) from Kerala was selected. Data were collected through the interview so as to get a rich description regarding the area of exploration. The results will be discussed in the full paper.
