Burnout in relation to personality traits of principals of colleges of education

Abstract

among the Principals of the Colleges of Education besides finding out whether there is any significant difference among their Burnout with respect to their sex and marital status and the location and type of the institutions. It is also aimed at studying whether there is any significant relationship between the different components of Burnout and personality traits in addition to establishing whether there is any significant inter-relationship among the different components of Burnout. Survey method of research was attempted to collect the required data by taking 50 principals of Colleges of Education by stratified random sampling method. The study concludes that locality of the college has certain influence on the Depersonalization of the Principals; sex and marital status of the principals and the location and type of the colleges have no significant influence on the different dimension of burnout; higher the Principal being negative, callous, cynical, cold and distant attitude towards work besides having the feeling of insensitivity, impersonal response with other, doubts, less interested, less enthusiastic and not bothered, lesser will be his intelligence, abstract thinking and brightness; by and large, there is no relationship between his Personality Traits and his Burnout; those Principals who are less intelligent and having less concrete thinking and sober, prudent, serious and taciturn are more of negative, callous, cynical, cold and distant attitude towards work, feeling of insensitivity, impersonal response, doubt, less interested, less enthusiastic and not be bothered; those who are more of being venturesome, socially bold, uninhibited & spontaneous are noted for their being negative, callous, cynical, etc.; those who are more of controlled, socially precise and following self-image are more of being depersonalized and negative self-evaluation, feeling of incompetence, lack of confidence, self-realization and exhilaration with regard to one's work; most of the Personality Traits of the Principals do not influence their nature of being Burnout.
