Abstract This study aims to evaluate the performance of open-ended equity schemes of Birla Sun Life and HDFC Mutual Funds with growth option. To examine the performance, a sample of 12 schemes have been selected on the basis of monthly returns and compared with benchmark (BSE National 100 Index) returns for the period from January 2007 to December 2015 (nine years) of transition economy. For this purpose, statistical tools like average, standard deviation, beta and coefficient of determination were employed.
