Abstract The objective of the present study is to examine the impact of insurance sector on the economic growth of India. The study applied multiple regression as a statistical tool using Eviews. The analysis used data for the period 2001 to 2017. Insurance development is measured by insurance density and insurance penetration of the industry. According to the findings, there is a positive and significant impact of Insurance sector, both life insurance and non-life insurance in terms of penetration and density parameters on the economic growth of Indian economy.
