Abstract

A study was conducted to identify the risk factors of cervical cancer among women with cervical cancer through Non experimental descriptive survey design. Using Convenient sampling technique 120 samples were selected. The study was conducted at inpatient and outpatient department of oncology unit, Sri Ramakrishna hospitals, Coimbatore. Self-administered risk factor checklist was administered to find out the risk factors of cervical cancer. Along with socio demographic profile also was collected. The data obtained were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The present study reveals that, among120 samples none of them had undergone PAP smear test previously. The major risk factor for cervical cancer is lack of awareness of PAP smear test among sexually active women. Nearly 50% of women affected with sexually transmitted diseases, need to aware the mode of transmission and the treatment regimen. Hence the present study attempts to identify the risk factors of cervical cancer, focusing on the concept of prevention and control of cancer
