Abstract

MGNREGP is among the very popular and successful on-going programmes in India. Its evidence shows its success and failures from different aspects. Data from the official website of NREGA has shown its success story in terms of employment generation as person-days created under the programme was 9050.56 lakhs in 2006–07 which has increased to 17511.74 lakhs in 2015–16. Though there is huge injection of funds under the programme over the years but the percentage of works completed under MGNREGP in 2006–07 was 47.22% which has decreased to 15.58% in 2015–16. With the help of tables and different type diagrams we would see the amount of asset created and its diversification. To understand the actual outcomes of MGNREGP on asset creation, the probable determinants of consideration are: people's voice, awareness and administrative power in states. Lastly, we have seen the impact of asset creation in changing rural scenario. We have seen that asset has some positive relation with NSDP agriculture and this may happen because of short run improvement in irrigational facilities and water conservation facilities.
