Sequence analysis of β-Defensin-1 gene, found in Osmanabadi goat was undertaken during present study. For this purpose extraction of RNA from tongue, cDNA synthesis, PCR, Sequencing and DNA star programme were employed. The coding region of β-Defensin-1 was identical to bD1-Y17679. It was homologous with Sheep, Red deer, Reindeer, Cattle and Buffalo defensin nucleotide sequences. Analysis of Phylogenetic tree revealed that the sequences in β-Defensin-1 from Osmanabadi goat and Sheep were close to each other, though appeared in separate groups. Cattle and buffalo defensin sequences were, however distant in comparison with Osmanabadi goat βDefensin-1, the predicted secondary structure of which consisted random coils (73.44%).
