This study briefly reviews the performance of Scheduled Commercial banks in India during the post reforms period of the years (i.e. from 1991–1992 to 2000–2001). It is seen from the study that PSBs have poor performance in regard to both profitability and efficiency. An important reason for such performance of the PSBs may be that too much liquidity is draining away profitability of the PSBs. The PSBs should strive to strike a balance between liquidity and profitability, which is the secret of success of the banks. Top |
