Comparative study on knowledge and adoption of improved practices by tomato grower in chikmagalore and Raichur districts, Karnataka Kumara N. Abstract The study was conducted to know the knowledge and adoption level of tomato growers of Chikmagalore and Raichur districts about improved practices like stalking, mulching, drip irrigation. The study was conducted in predominantly tomato growing talukas Chikmagalore and Raichur district comprising 120 respondents of 60 each from the districts. The result showed that majority of respondents (81.66 & 76.66%) had high level of knowledge about the improved practices like, drip irrigation, staking followed by mulching in Chikmagalore district whereas majority of the respondents had low level of knowledge (86.66, 83.33 and 73.33%) about the improved practices like, mulching, staking followed by drip irrigation in Raichur district. Further, majority of the respondents (88.33, 43.33 and 41.66%) adopted improved practices like staking, drip irrigation followed by mulching in Chikmagalore district, it was low adoption of 18.33% in drip irrigation followed by 13.33% in staking and zero in mulching in Raichur district by tomato growers.
