Abstract Jalgaon district is rich in fish fauna which is yet under explored. Present paper deals with first record of Dwarf gourami Trichogaster lalius (Hamilton, 1822) belonging to the family Osphronemidae from the Tapi and Waghur rivers. The specimens were collected from the Hatnur (Tapi river) and Waghur (Waghur river) dams during monsoon period during the year 2019-20. The introduction of the T. lalius in both the dams might have been either accidental or it could not have been reported earlier.
