Abstract Field experiments were conducted during kharif seasons of 2006 and 2007 at Agricultural Research Station, Bailhongal, Belgaum district of Karnatak state to ascertain the stage of flower bud and number of pollinations for hybrid seed production of chilli HCH-9646. More than 50% opened bud stage (full matured) flowers recorded significantly higher fruit set, seed yield and quality when it was pollinated thrice.
