Abstract A field study was conducted during winter 1999–2000 at the Experimental Farm, AMU, Aligarh on mustard (Brassica juncea L. Czern & Coss.) cv. ‘Alankar’ under irrigated and non-irrigated conditions to assess the effect of nitrogen and foliar spray of ethrel (@ 0.02%) on ethylene production, 1-aminocyclopropan-1-carboxylic acid (ACC) content and ACC-oxidase activity in leaves. ACC content, ACC oxidase activity and ethylene production in leaves was increased by 60.2, 39.1 and 83.2%, respectively, by 0.02% ethrel with 80 kg N ha−1. Top Key words ACC, ACC-oxidase, ethylene, ethrel, mustard, nitrogen. Top |
