Abstract

Field experiments conducted at research farm of Janta (P.G.) College, Bakewar, Etawah (U.P.) revealed that the minimum number of flowers per spike (17.45) was recorded in plants raised with CCC 100 ppm treated bulbs than small bulbs sown on July, 15 whereas this number (38.30) was highest in plants raised from GA 400 ppm treated bulbs sown on March, 15. The size of planting material also affected the number of flowers per spike. The maximum number of flowers was noted from large bulbs (35.62) followed by medium (25.33) and small (20.15) ones. Planting time also has an influence on number of flowers as March planting produced maximum number of flowers (28.06) followed by May (27.02) and July planting (26.01). Among all treatments of GA and CCC, the maximum number was noted from GA 400 treated bulbs which was statistically at par with CCC 400 ppm but significantly higher than remaining other treatments.
