Abstract Triphenylphosphine (PPh3) efficiently catalyzes the three-component synthesis of 6-amino-4-aryl-5-cyano-3-methyl-1-phenyl-1,4-dihydropyrano[2,3-c]pyrazoles starting from 3-methyl-1-phenyl-2-pyrazolin-5-one, aromatic aldehydes and malononitrile. The method provided several advantages such as mild conditions, good to excellent yields, easily available catalyst and simple work procedure.
