Description of Two New Nematode Species Geomonhystera auvil/is N. Sp. (Monhysterida: Monhysteridae) and Longidorella xesua N. Sp. (Dorylaimida: Nordidae) From North India With A Compendium of Geomonhystera spp.

Abstract

Two new soil nematodes, Geomonhystera auvillis n. sp. characterized by having slightly arcuate body, absence of male, lack of somatic setae, circular amphidial opening located one head width from anterior end occupying 1/4th of corresponding body width, body length = 580–728 μm; a = 27–34; b = 5.8–6.7; c = 8.1–8.8; V = 80.6–86.2, distinguished from closely related species Geomonhystera villosa (Butshli 1873) Andra'ssy 1981 and Geomonhystera australis (Cobb 1893) Andra'ssy 1981. Longidorella xesua n. sp. characterized by having body length = 563–655 μm; a = 18.7–22.6; b = 2.7–3.2,c = 8.9–10.4, V = 54.4–58.5, Odontostylet = 35–45 μm long, nerve ring located at 90–105 μm from anterior end and one and half anal body width long rectum, distinguished from Longidorella xenura Khan and Siddiqi 1963, and Longidorella suviswa Patil and Khan 1982 have been illustrated and described. A Compendium of taxonomic characters of species described up to date of genus Geomonhystera has also been included.
