Genetics of Stem Rust Resistance in Selected Wheat Lines from Nepal Mahto B.N., Bhardwaj S.C. Nepal Agricultural Research Council (NARC), National Wheat Research Programme Bhairahwa, Rupendehi, Nepal Abstract Fifty five wheat lines/cultivars were evaluated against eight pathotypes of stem rust (Puccinia graminis f. sp. trifici). Seven Sr genes (Sr2, Sr5, Sr7b, Sr8, Sr9b, Sr11 and Sr31) were characterized in fifty line/cultivars singly or in combination with each other. Resistance to stem rust in 24 lines was largely dependent on Sr31 followed by Sr2, Srll, Sr9b, Sr8, Sr5, and Sr7b either singly or in combination. Three lines were found resistant to the pathotypes of P. graminis f. sp. tritici. Top Key words Puccinia graminis trifici, Resistance, Wheat. Top | | |
