Abstract

The studies were conducted during the year 2000 and 2001 to find out an environmentally safe management of yellow vein mosaic disease of okra through use of tolerant varieties, cost effective scheduling of efficient insecticides and plant product based vector (Bemisia tabaci) control measures. Among the varieties tested, F1 hybrid (ECL) produced highest fruit yield with lower degree of virus infestation followed by open pollinated variety, Arka Abhoy. Four spraying of metasystox at 15, 30, 45 and 60 days after sowing were found to produce highest yield advantage with comparatively lower disease incidence. Spray application of plant products resulted delay in disease occurrence up to 60 days after sowing but among them, root based products of drumstick showed higher yield.
