Abstract

A replicated field trial was carried out during kharif, 2016 to evaluate the efficacy of integrated nematode management modules comprising of various combinations of oil cakes (neem & jatropha oil cakes) and bio control agents (Purpureocillium lilacinum, Trichoderma viride and Pseudomonas flourescens) against Meloidogyne incognita infecting Okra cv. Utkal Gaurav. The experiment comprising of eight eco friendly integrated nematode management modules along with a chemical treated check (Carbofuran 3G @ 1kg a.i/ha) and an untreated check, replicated thrice. The result of the present investigation indicated a significant increase in plant growth parameters and decrease in nematode reproduction parameters in all the treatments over untreated check. Among all the management modules, soil application of jatropha oil cake @ 1.0 t/ha 15days before sowing + seed treatment with T. viride + P. fluorescens, each @ 5 g/kg seed + soil application of P. lilacinum @ 2.5 kg/ha 15 days after sowing was the most effective integrated management module which recorded the maximum increase in plant height (64.6%), root length (81.0%), fresh weight of shoot (51.4%), fresh weight of root (73.4%), dry weight of shoot (67.1%), dry weight of root (64.2%), biomass yield (66.5%) and fruit yield (53.6%) with maximum reduction in number of galls/plant (82.6%), number of egg masses/plant (86.7%), number of eggs/egg mass (42.4%), nematode population (76.3%) and root knot index (31.5%) over untreated check followed by soil application of neem oil cake @ 1.0 t/ha 15 days before sowing + seed treatment with T. viride + P. fluorescens, each @ 5 g/kg seed + soil application of P. lilacinum @ 2.5 kg/ha at 15 days after sowing.
