Abstract Interdisciplinary approach for the management of malocclusion provides a holistic approach of patient management. Prudent treatment planning is necessary to achieve the various treatment goals. The article highlights the importance of attached gingiva, various surgical and orthodontic considerations to approach cases with impacted canines so to maintain adequate width of attached gingiva. It is exemplified with a case in which a maxillary impacted canine, highly placed in the buccal vestibule has been surgically intervened, orthodontically extruded with sequential traction and in addition to this treatment apically repositioned flap surgery was performed to maintain adequate attached gingiva for best final results.
