Abstract

Techniques that helped preserve jaw continuity, contour and integrity of important adjacent structures were given prime consideration so that nature could take its course in either reducing the lesion or returning back to normalicy as soon as possible.

Aim was to evaluate the outcome of management of aggressive cystic lesions by conservative approach to reduce the morbidity, incidence of complications and recurrence rate.

Patients of OKC was treated by conservative surgical protocol preserving the integrity, continuity and contour of the jaw and adjacent important structures and tailored for the best prognosis in the interest of the patients. No evidence of recurrence till date has been reported after a follow up of 1–3 years. No psychological distress seen. No complications like loss of jaw bone support, deformity and dysfunction. Satisfactory outcome of the conservative approach advocates their precedence over the aggressive therapy which could fall back upon if recurrence occurs.
