Abstract Objective The aim of this in vitro study was to compare the fracture resistance of tooth root following its canal preparation by oscillatory i.e. Endo Eze-AET and new rotary system i.e. Liberator in oval canals. Materials and Methods Thirty freshly extracted single rooted premolars with oval canals were selected & mounted in acrylic resin cylinders after horizontal sectioning of their crowns. The samples were randomly allocated to three groups of 10 teeth each i.e. GI, GII and GIII. GI was prepared with hand K-files, GII with Endo Eze reciprocating system and GIII with the liberator rotary file system. The canals were obturated and using Universal Instron Testing Machine running at a cross head speed of 0.5mm/min, the force was applied on the mounted roots with cylindrical pin having diameter of 1mm until the samples reached ultimate failure. Results It was found that the roots prepared with Endo Eze reciprocating file system were significantly more resistant to fracture as compared to the other two groups.
