Abstract

Complete oral rehabilitation is an amalgamation of all the dental disciplines under one treatment plan. It requires a careful evaluation of each aspect of existing dentition and its relationship with the stomatognathic system. This comprehension will determine whether it is necessary to restore one or both the arches or sometimes only a few teeth in an arch in order to achieve the desired outcome. Simultaneously, any increase in occlusal vertical dimension OVD should be determined on the basis of a need to accomplish satisfactory and aesthetically pleasing restorations. Thorough extraoral and intraoral evaluations are mandatory to assess the suitability of increasing OVD & aimed at minimizing the increase in OVD to reduce the overall complexity of the prosthodontic treatment. We should keep in mind that every patient with extreme tooth wear or has undergone a previous rehabilitation procedure has unique treatment needs & consider the treatment option that is in the best interest of our patient.
