Abstract Aim This study was conducted to evaluate and compare the microtensile bond strength and interfacial microleakage of different bonding agents commercially available. Materials and Method For microleakage evaluation, Class V cavities (4x3x2) were prepared on 60 human premolars. The samples were divided into four groups-(Group A: Tetric N Bond total etch adhesive, Group B: Clearfil SE Bond, Group C: Tetric N Bond self etch adhesive, Group D: Adper Easy Bond) and restored with composite material. All specimens were then immersed in methylene blue dye and sectioned. Dye penetration at the occlusal and gingival margin was examined using a stereomicroscope at 20x. For microtensile bond strength, 60 specimens of a standardized size (1.5x1.5x2.5 mm) were prepared from each tooth. The enamel surface was grounded and flatened. Teeth were divided into 4 groups according to bonding agent used and sectioned, decalcified and deproteinated. These specimens were mounted on stubs and evaluated under scanning electron microscope. Statisticalanalysis Statistical analysis was done using one way Anova test and Post-Hoc test. Results Tetric N bond self etch showed maximum leakage and Clearfil SE Bond two-step self-etch adhesive revealed higher bond strength. Conclusion-Total etch bonding agent exhibited less interfacial microleakage than self etch bonding agents but higher bond strength was noted with two step self-etch adhesive.
