Online published on 22 August, 2019. Abstract Introduction Hepatitis C virus remains large health care burden to the world. The incidence of HCV on a global scale is not well known, because acute infection is generally asymptomatic. Hepatitis C among adults affects the general health status and diminishes the strength to perform activities. The condition can worsens iftreatmentis not taken properly. Aim The present study is conducted with the aim to assess the knowledge regarding hepatitis C andattitude towards hepatitis Cpatients among adults in selected rural area of Hoshiarpur, Punjab. Material and Methods Non experimental research approach was used. 60 adults were selected as a sample from the village Sataur of district Hoshiarpur by convenient sampling technique and were asked to complete the questionnaire and rating scale regarding the knowledge regarding hepatitis C and attitude towards hepatitis C patients. Relationship of knowledge and attitude ofadults with selected variables was also assessed. Results Half i.e. 50% of the adults had poor knowledge regarding hepatitis C, 48.33% had average knowledge and remaining 1.67% of adults had good knowledge regarding hepatitis C. Majority of adults i.e. 84.34% hadpositive attitude towards hepatitis C patients. Conclusion The findings of the present study suggested that adult had poor knowledge regarding Hepatitis C and positive attitude regarding hepatitis C patients. Guidelines on the prevention and control of Hepatitis C were distributed among adults to improve their knowledge regarding Hepatitis C. Top Keywords Knowledge, attitude, adults, hepatitis C. Top |
