Abstract

A field experiment was conducted to study the effect of lateral spacing and fertigation levels on yield of sweet corn during rabi seasons of 2006–07 and 2007–08. Three levels each of lateral spacing (L1: 1.20 m, L2: 1.80 m and L3: 2.40m) and fertigation (F1: 60% RDF, F2: 80% RDF and F3: 100% RDF) along with surface control (1.0 IW/CPE + 100% RDF) were evaluated in FRBD with four replications. Among the lateral spacing L1 recorded significantly higher yield of cob (16.9 t/ha) and stover (12.6 t/ha) as compared to L2 and L3. Among the fertigation levels, application of 100 per cent RDF showed superiority over 80 and 60 per cent RDF. The combination of L1 F3 (1.20 m lateral spacing + fertigation @ 100% RDF) recorded significantly higher yield of 19.7 t cob and 14.7 t stover per hectare as compared to rest of the combinations. However, control plots recorded significantly higher cob and stover yields in comparison to treatment mean. However, L1 F3 was economical over rest of the treatments.
