Abstract In India, COVID-19 pandemic has caused serious damage to the economy and public health. On the other hand, the lockdown has affected air quality and climate change. The decrease in the level of particulate matters (PM) and aerosol, reduction in the levels of CO2 and NO2 has been observed due to COVID-19 lockdown. Water quality of rivers and lakes has improved, with the increase in dissolved oxygen and a simultaneous decrease in suspended particulate matter. COVID-19 however resulted in unemployment among the people due to the halt in business and industries, which in some cases caused mental disorders. Present communication describes the effect of COVID-19 on the quality of air, climate change and health-related problems in India.
