Abstract

Foliar application of NO (Nitric oxide) was done with 0.1mM SNP (Sodium Nitroprusside) a nitric oxide donor. Tea saplings were protected from the brown blight pathogen [Glomerella cingulata (Stoneman) Spauld & Scherenk] to the extent of 42.2% as compared to control. The level of the antioxidant enzymes (peroxidase, catalase and ascorbate peroxidase) as well as cell wall degrading enzymes (chitinase and β-1,3- glucanase) were assessed and Peroxizyme analysis was also undertaken.
