Abstract

Present study aims to investigate efficiency of absorbents in removing dye ( Direct Red 23) from textile industry effluent. The adsorbents used for this purpose included passion fruit peel, coir pith, banana leaves, coconut bunch waste, and orange peels. The efficacy of removing dye by each adsorbent was evaluated using a spectrophotometer. Coconut bunch waste was found to be the most effective agro-waste adsorbent, contributing to the development of ecofriendly and cost-effective material to purify polluted water.
