Bioethanol production from floral wastes Raj M. Shailaja*, Rachel N. Shalini St. Francis College For Women, Begumpet, Hyderabad *Corresponding author: shailaja.raj@sfc.ac.in
Online published on 26 March, 2024. Abstract As the stock of fossil fuel is depleting fast, renewable fuel remains the only alternative to overcome energy crises. In this respect ethanol has been found to be suitable alternative. Various substrates have been suggested for ethanol production. Present investigation was undertaken to exploit mixed floral waste for cost effective production of bio-ethanol. Fermentation of 1.9 kg floral waste with the help of Pichia kudriavzevii, for 96 hrs at 37 °C at pH 5.5 produced 1.1 liter bioethanol. The properties of bio-ethanol as a fuel was found at par with commercially available anhydrous ethanol. Top Keywords Floral waste, Bioethanol, Fermentation, Fuel. Top | |
