For this purpose total of 181 blood samples were collected and examined for detection of antigen. The drug resistant genes pvcrt-o and pvmdr-1 were detected by PCR assay. Out of the total 181 Malaria suspected cases, 22 cases were detected as positive for Plasmodium vivax. Out of the total 22 cases 16 were male and 6 female. Maximum number of cases were found in the age group of 10-20 years followed by 21-30 years. The comparative performance of Rapid diagnostic tests (RDT), Centrifuge quantitative buffy coat smear (CBC) and Peripheral blood smear (PBS) were analysed, and the results obtained indicated that RDT and CBS were highly sensitive, while the sensitivity of PBS was 81.81%. On an average 22.72 % isolates of Plasmodium vivax spp. were resistant to Chloroquine. Top Keywords PCR, RDT, PBS, CBS. Top |
