Abstract The bacteria such as Alcaligenes faecalis, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, P. fluorescens and Bacillus cereus were found to reduce the amount of 2,4- Dichlorophenoxyacetic acid ( 2-4 D) from the culture medium as well as soil.
