Instruction to Authors

The CLARION is a multidisciplinary international journal started in 1994 and presently sponsored by the Centre for Environment, Education and Economic Development (CEEED), Assam and also corporate bodies and like ONGC, OIL, NRL etc. CEEED, is devoted to publishing original, peer-reviewed research papers on main aspects of environmental sciences, such as environmental chemistry, environmental biology, ecology, geosciences and environmental physics and also socio economic issues including literature. As the journal will have two sections namely Science and Humanities, appropriate subjects include basic and applied research on atmospheric, terrestrial and aquatic environments, pollution control and abatement technology, and conservation of natural resources, environmental health and toxicology, research on socio economic issues, literature. Announcements of international environmental science meetings and meetings related to humanities and Socio economic issues and other recent information are also included. Recently, the Journal has been provided with ISSN (International Standard Serial Number), thus helping the young generation researchers to publish their research works in a standard Journal.

The objectives are to report on the latest research achievements and developments; to strengthen academic exchanges; to promote cooperation in science and technology; and to contribute to the progress in sciences and humanities at large. The journal's board of reviewing editors consists of a galaxy of members belonging to diverse disciplines of Science and Humanities from India and across the globe.

  1. Type of contributions

Three types of manuscripts are acceptable for publication: Articles, Communications and Reviews.

    1. Articles are meant for papers reporting the results of completed definite studies. If several closely related manuscripts are being prepared at about the same time, all should be submitted together. Articles of high scientific quality and originality that are of interest to the wide and diverse readership of the Journal will be given priority for publication.

    2. Communications are intended for the rapid and timely publication of original research of significance. Communications are short contributions not exceeding three printed pages in length.

    3. Review articles deal with topics of current interest in areas relating to environmental sciences and humanities. Rather than an assemblage of detailed information with a complete literature survey, a critically selected treatment of the material is desired. Unsolved problems and possible developments should also be discussed.

    4. Review articles are generally written upon invitation of the Chief Editor.

  2. Preparation of manuscripts

The manuscripts should be organized in a 12pt Times New Roman font with 1.5 line spacing and single column. The text, tables and figures must be in one document.

The Title should clearly and accurately indicate the contents of the Articles or Communications and should be expressed in adequate scientific terms. No abbreviations should be used in the titles.

Full address of authors should be placed below the Title. An information should be included on the first page to give the mail address, phone number and e-mail address of the author of correspondence, and if applicable, information regarding funding.

We request that authors should submit Abstracts for both Articles and Communications. Abstracts should state briefly the purpose and method of the study, the significant results and conclusions (or recommendations).

Three to eight Keywords should be given at the bottom of the abstract in alphabetic order.

The paper must be divided into sections starting preferably with "Introduction" and ending with "Conclusion". The Main Section should be numbered 1, 2, 3 etc. and subsections 2.1, 2.2 etc.

Tables and Figures must be numbered consecutively with Arabic numerals respectively and should be self-explanatory. Tables should be concise and exact and should use three-lines. Tables must have a brief descriptive title and include footnotes if necessary. Figures should have figure captions, either with the figures or collected on a separate sheet. The contents of figures, tables and word descriptions should not be duplicated.

Photographs should be of sufficiently high quality with respect to detail and contrast. Indicate the magnification by a bar on the photograph.

References should be arranged alphabetically by author without serial numbering. Reference accuracy is critical and authors are responsible for the accuracy of the references. Only articles that have been published or are in press should be included in the References. Journal articles and books must be cited by the following formats:

Pakker H, Martins R, Boelen P et al., 2000. Effects of temperature on the photoreactivation of ultraviolet-B-induced DNA damage in Palmaria palmata (Rhodophyta)[J]. J Phycol, 36: 334-341.

Sheng J R, 1979. Fauna sinica, crustaces, freshwater copepoda[M]. Beijing: Sciences Press.

  3. Submission of manuscripts

The Manuscript may be submitted by post in the address below or through email as attachment as MS word document (version: not exceeding MS Office 2007) at the email of the Chief Editor, The Clarion i.e. chiefeditorclarion@gmail.com

  4. Reviewing of manuscripts

Every manuscript is independently reviewed by peers. If two or more reviewers consider the manuscript unsuitable for publication in this journal, a statement for the decision will be sent to authors within one or two months of the submitting date. Manuscripts rejected will not be returned to the authors.

  5. Revision of manuscripts

A manuscript sent back to an author for revision should be returned to the editor within a month from the date of return.
