Abstract The term E-Governance seems simple to define, but its adoption and execution are complex and exhaustive. Implementing e-governance becomes particularly challenging in a country like India, with its democratic structure, right to freedom of speech and expression, and the Right to Information Act of 2005. This research paper sheds light on the fundamental aspects of e-governance, its features, models, different phases, and, most importantly, the extent of its adoption and its struggles to penetrate down to the grassroots level of Indian society. The responsibility and accountability for implementing e-governance must be shared by both the government and the people. Only then can the objectives of good governance and a citizen-centric government be achieved. Top Keywords E-Governance, Good Governance, Information technology, Citizen. Top |
