Online Published on 20 March, 2024. Abstract This article provides an exploration of the prevailing literature regarding the distinct climate change vulnerabilities experienced in developing nations, with a distinctive focus on the Barisal Division. It is obvious that climate change exacerbates the vulnerabilities faced by women, especially those who are self-reliant but heavily contingent on threatened natural resources. Within this cohort, it is discernible that women bear a disproportionate burden stemming from the impacts of climate change. The article takes charge of a rigorous inquisition to unveil the underlying causes of gender differentiation within the context of a changing climate. Moreover, it sheds light on the trajectory of gradual and extreme weather shifts, which have particularly detrimental consequences for the livelihoods of impoverished women in Bangladesh. Notably, the study underscores the heightened vulnerability of these marginalised women to climate change impacts, with even more pronounced effects observed in the case of Barisal City. Furthermore, the article highlights the obstacles faced by women in adapting to these challenges, stemming from disparities in resource allocation and various societal factors. It becomes evident that the livelihood assets available to impoverished women are both limited and distressing, exacerbating their vulnerability to climate change-induced crises. The findings of the study show that climatic events create disruption in the education of girls, loss of lives, food insecurity, housing challenges and health issues, etc. In light of these findings, the article firmly advocates for an unwavering commitment to addressing these challenges, necessitating both short-term and long-term reforms at the institutional and policy levels.
