Stress induced changes in serum vitamin A and enzyme levels in Rathi calves Kataria AK, Kataria N College of Veterinary and Animal Science, Rajasthan Agricultural University, Bikaner-334001, (Rajasthan) Abstract The experiment was designed to assess the effect of drought on serum vitamin A and enzymes in 97 Rathi calves of both sex ageing 5 to 8 months belonging to farmer's stock of area in and around Bikaner district. The overall mean values of serum vitamin A was 19.6 ± 0.12. The overall mean values of serum enzymes viz. serum aspartate amminotransferase, alanine amminotransferase and alkaline phosphatase were 170.3±6.9 IU/L, 60.34± 4.12 IU/L and 35.2±0.32 IU/L, respectively. A non significant (P>0.05) effect of sex was observed on the mean values of serum vitamin A. All the enzymes showed significant (P<0.05) change according to sex, the values were higher in male animals than female animals. Top | |
