A study of needs of undergraduate female students with reference to their interpersonal attraction patterns

Abstract

The present study was conducted to assess the needs of undergraduate female students with reference to their Interpersonal attraction. A group of undergraduate female students (N=500) was taken as subjects and were asked to answer the items of Personal Preference Schedule and personal data sheet according to which they were categorized as one of the three dyads, i.e., Bilaterally Attracted, Unilaterally Attracted, Ignoring pair. As obtained in the present study, the BAP1 and BAP2 differed significantly on abasement, endurance and heterosexuality. The UAP1 and UAP2 differed significantly on order and aggressing needs, and IP1 and IP2 pairs differed significantly on succorance and change needs. But on the other dimensions, significant differences were not obtained. The results are discussed and implications of the findings are also mentioned.
