Abstract

Ecology may be defined as the study of structure and function of the nature. It influences people in a number of ways and human beings also exert numerous impacts on nature (ecology). As regards this paper, it is an attempt to describe the meaning of psycho-ecological perspective and its role in human life. There was a time when the nature was assumed to exert one way effect on human beings, but at present this thought has changed as the man is exploring the various aspects of nature and as a result of it so many mysteries of the nature or ecology are now uncovered. Thus present assumption is that there is constant interaction between ecology and the human beings and both are being influenced by each other. The process of effect is both way, not one way. The natural changes in ecology and the changes caused by human beings are two way affairs and influence the behavior of people in various ways. This view may be termed as psycho-ecological perspective of human life. This paper focuses on this very aspect of continued interaction between ecology and human beings and presents an account of the effects of psycho-ecology on human behavior.
