Abstract

The study aimed to analyze the socioeconomic status, land use, cropping system, technical efficiency of crops, and constraints in production and marketing. Results revealed that villages under ravine areas had poor agriculture infrastructure and low technical efficiency of major crops. Crop productivity in the ravine areas was also lower than the average crop productivity at both State and country levels. Extension services in ravine-affected villages were either absent from the government's end or of inferior quality resulting in farmers facing several production and marketing problems. The study also provided suggestions for the productive use of ravine land.
