Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement

The journal is committed to maintain integrity of research publications and scientific professionalism, and hence discourages misrepresentation of research results and plagiarism. The authors are expected to exhibit professionalism of scientific stewardship, ethics and follow good scientific practices. Strict compliance with ethical standards should be practiced before submitting a manuscript. Authors must ensure that the manuscript and its content have not been submitted to any other journal or publication.

The publication ethics and malpractice statement is based on the guidelines for authors, Journal's Editor and Editorial Board members developed by the Editorial Board and the Executive Committee. The duties and responsibility are well described in the Constitution of the Indian Society of Genetics and Plant Breeding. Manuscripts, submitted to the Indian Journal of Genetics and Plant Breeding, are evaluated entirely on the basis of their scientific contents. The Society does not charge any amount for publication but request the authors to become member of the Society. All possible measures are taken to uphold the highest standards of publication ethics and to prevent malpractices. The Editorial Board comprising the Editor, Associate Editors and Members are responsible for taking a decision as to which of the articles submitted to the journal are to be published. The rejection and acceptance of the articles is at the discretion of the Editor, however the critical comments and suggestions based on peer review are considered before arriving at the decisions. The journal follows a policy of fair play in its editorial evaluation. Following strict confidentiality, the reviewers, editors and Editorial Board members are expected to exercise caution and ensure that they have no conflict of interest with respect to the articles they accept/reject. The reviewers are expected to express their views with reasons about the contents of the manuscript, formatting of the presentation, originality of research, relevant citations and healthy arguments about the subject and contents in the manuscript. The corresponding author is required to ensure that all co-authors included in the paper have contributed to each section of the following:

Authors' contribution Conceptualization of research ( ); Designing of the experiments ( ); Contribution of experimental materials ( ); Execution of field/lab experiments and data collection ( ); Analysis of data and interpretation ( ); Preparation of manuscript ( ).
