Varietal Differences in the Breeding Behaviour of Colchi-Cine-Induced Autotetraploids of Chilli (Capsicum Annuum L.) Kedharnath S., Parthasarathy N. Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi Summary The cytology of two distinct tetraploid strains of chilli (Capsicum annuum L.) was studied in PMC. No significant difference was observed. In both the tetraploids certain percentage of abnormal gametes were formed. But the progeny of these two tetraploids differed in that the plants were all tetraploids for chromosome number in the case of the strain N.P. 51 while in the case of N.P. 34 Bunch Mutant, both tetraploids and aneuploid plants were identified. The possible causes of this differential breeding behaviour of the two tetraploid strains are discussed Top | |
