Inheritance of tan colour in sorghum Indi S. K., Goud J. V. Department of Agricultural Botany, College of Agriculture, Dharwad, 580005, India Summary Inheritance of red purple vs. tan plant (leaf sheath) colour was studied in six intervarietal crosses of sorghum (Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench.), ‘LSR 1 × GS 3541’, ‘RCR 408 × CS 3541’, ‘148 × LSR 1’ ‘GS 3541 × IS 84’, ‘IS 3691 × GS 3541 and ‘IS 84 × 148’. Fa segregation showed a 3:1 ratio for red purple; tan colour, indicating operation of single gene in the inheritance of this character in all the six cross combinations. The monogenic recessive tan plant colour was observed. Top | |
