Inheritance of resistance to downy mildew in pearl millet

Summary

The inheritance of resistance to downy mildew in pearl millet was studied based on 16 parental lines, their F₁, F₂, BC₁, BC₂ progenies under artificial epiphytotic conditions. There is no dominance either for resistance or susceptibility. Susceptible × susceptible combinations are not as susceptible as expected. The chi-square values for different ratios and heterogeneity components show that the resistance to downy mildew in pearl millet is not simple but quantitative in inheritance.
