Abstract

The present study on 6 X 6 variety mechanical diallel of urdbean [Vigna mungo (L.) Hepper] revealed the importance of both additive and non-additive variances. UG-117 was found to be best general competitor for seed yield, followed by H70-3 and Pant U-30. In general, the varieties which were good competitors for number of clusters and pods per plant were also good competitors for seed yield. The best specific combinations of mixtures showing enhancement in the performance involved the best general competitors. The s.c.a. and enhancement values were found very much correlated with each other.
