Abstract The present study was aimed at finding out the impact of depression on life satisfaction of women expelled by the family. The sample for the study consisted of 160 subjects, with equal number of women with expulsion and non-expulsion from the family. The participants were assessed by Beck Depression Inventory, Dhilon's Life Satisfaction Inventory and Personal Data Sheet. Obtained data were analyzed using t-test. Result revealed that depression had significant impact on life satisfaction among women in general. Less depressed women reported higher level of life satisfaction than moderately and highly depressed women. Similar results were obtained when analysis for expelled and non-expelled group of women was carried out separately. In expelled group of women as the depression increased life satisfaction decreased. In non-expelled group, women with low and moderate level of depression reported same amount of life satisfaction and these groups of women were significantly more satisfied with life than highly depressed women.
