Abstract

The study was conducted on 24 adult, eight week old Japanese quails (n = 12 males and females). The mean protease activity in proventricular mucous membrane of adult male and female quails were 185.67±11.64 and 223.31±38.91 PU/g of tissue, respectively. The difference in proventricular protease activity in male and female birds was not significant. When both sexes were pooled the mean value of protease activity in proventricular mucous membrane of adult Japanese quails was 204.49±17.97 PU/g of tissue.
