Abstract

A study was clllTied out on 34 poultry fanns in and around Guwahati city with a view to study the. impact and utilization of resources on meat production. The'resources showed Ii direct relationship with the production. Amongst them, fann size appeared to be the most significant influential factor on pnX1uction. The multiple linear regression function for the seven variables comprising of fann size (no. of birds), cost of poultry shed and equipment, area of poultry shed, amount of feed, medical expenses, labour and maintenance' costs could explain about 98 per cent of the variation in the meat production. The regression co-efficient for all the factors (except fann size), though positive, were not statistically significant.
