Abstract This article's purpose is to highlight the existing conditions prevalent in India with regard to pollution caused in the environment, by looking into few factors that contribute, e.g., industrial pollution reported in South India by India statistics: Statistical Analysis Data information & facts about India, public interest litigations filed before the Honorable Courts in India in respect of the above cause, laws of the land that are prevalent to monitor, control and protect the environment. However the country faces a major challenge controlling the impact of pollution on environment. It is concluded saying, lack of information and public awareness are fundamental factors that render informal regulation by civil society ineffective and with a suggestion to implement the existing environment protection acts effectively, which by itself will bring in a lot of positive changes towards sustainable growth.
