Abstract The present study was undertaken for a period of around one and half year to evaluate hematological alterations in theileriosis aff ected cattle in and around Bhubaneswar along with gross and histopathological changes in dead theileriosis aff ected cattle. Blood samples presented to the department of pathology, CVSc and AH, OUAT, Odisha, India were screened for theileriosis on the basis of demonstrating piroplasms in blood smear using Giemsa staining technique. Haematological profile revealed lower haemoglobin (Hb), packed cell volume (PCV), total leucocyte count (TLC) and total erythrocyte count (TEC) values in theileriosis positive animals than theileriosis negative animals. Systematic post-mortem examination of animal was conducted which died during this period having history of increased temperature, 6 gm% Hb and blood smear positive for theileriosis. Gross and histopathological investigation revealed pulmonary edema, congested and hemorrhagic lymphnodes and characteristic abomasal hemorrhagic ulcers.
