Abstract

A four-year old female Rottweiler dog was diagnosed with T-cell rich large B-cell lymphoma. The dog was presented with a history of corneal opacity and anorexia for treatment. The animal exhibited dullness, depression and enlarged peripheral lymph nodes. Haematological values showed mild reduction in TEC, Hb and PCV and elevation of MCV, MCH and MCHC. A marked increase in TLC with lymphocytosis and monocytosis and reduction of granulocytes were noticed. Serum biochemical values showed no alterations except increased total cholesterol and triglycerides. Blood smear examination revealed mixed population of lymphocytes and lymphoblasts. FNAs of popliteal lymph node revealed homogenous population of lymphoblasts with spherical nuclei. The splenic aspirates revealed mixed population of large lymphocytes and lymphoblasts. ICC analysis of blood and cytology smears revealed expressions for CD3 and CD20. Histopathological evaluation of the lymph node revealed immunoblastic B-cells and well differentiated T-cells. IHC evaluation of the lymph node revealed expressions for CD3 and CD20. The cytopathological and immunological characteristics were consistent in the diagnosis of T-cell rich large B-cell lymphoma in a Rottweiler dog.
